Family Wants to Donate but Isn't a Match
A willing person with the wrong blood type, or a positive crossmatch, is not the end of the road. You still have paths — none of them are a payment for an organ.
What “not a match” usually means
Centers look at blood type first, then a crossmatch and a full medical workup. Our matching queue only compares organ and ABO blood type. A person who is “not a match” with your sister can still be a match with someone else, which is what paired exchange is for — at an accredited transplant program, not on this website.
If you still need a living donor
You need confidential kidney or liver matching. We privately compare new donor signups while your plan is active. You approve every introduction. Revealing your real name is optional. Heart, lung, pancreas, marrow/stem cell, and Other do not use this queue.
If you already have a willing donor who isn't compatible
You need a Center & Options Review after coverage — so an Independent RN Navigator prepares that conversation. If you still need more people besides that person, you still need matching.
